mobile phones are becoming more and more sophisticated over the years. They are almost a small computer as opposed to just phones. Google is developing Android platform, which is now on many popular phones and will even develop into a netbook platform in the near future. Google has decided to take a leap in hardware mobile phone market by Nexus One. This will be a personalized version of its Google Android phone platform.
...First, Google announced that it will be some specialized features. They have not released what it might be yet, but for those who are on this platform, they will get some extras other Android phones do not.
Second, this phone is fully unlocked. There are no restrictions that were artificially put into the phone as well as many networks do when they make a version of the phone. This means that the end user will be able to add any Android application and use all the functionality with the only restriction that the hardware in your phone. It is rare to have a full and complete freedom over the devices that came into use, as this freedom is severely restricted largely locked out of parts of the system.
What's nice about this is that most phone vendors to keep severely limit the control over the phone and it's applications. Unlocked Nexus One will feel a little more like a computer where you can install and remove software as a free user, instead of being locked away and controlled by a company or network.
The unlocked phone, as long as your network supports the basic functions, you will be able to use this phone as you want. With such an open platform, application possibilities really are endless just like web applications or desktop applications.
