Will Android Survive in the iPhone Dominated Market?

Apple iPhone has taken the world by storm, overwhelming the market in just a few short years. Today, there is no person on the planet that is not at least heard of the iPhone. Apple wooed the people with the iPhone is very intuitive user interface and many options addictive. Meanwhile, Google was ambushed by a colleague to introduce its iPhone - Android. As with everything that comes from Google, Android received immediately following, but Google has waited a tad too long?

Apple iPhone is a huge fan following, with its iTunes App Store and offer more than 100,000 applications. Apple controls the distribution of iPhone applications via a centralized online hub that every app maker must go through to publish their products to the public at large. Apple requires that all applications submitted to its App Store follow very strict rules prohibiting adult content and the Apple image. Google version of the App Store called Android Market, which is, in short, pursuing a similar course work. In relation to the App Store, but Android Market rules are somewhat weak, allowing for all types of applications that are submitted.

Google is no stranger to fame. But is Google the name of itself sufficient to run Android on top of the consumer? Despite the name recognition, the giant enter the smartphone market is a risky business because the company had never tried a similar move before. Unlike the iPhone, which is marked with all known lowercase "i", the Android name does not carry the name of his host. Therefore, dissolution, on May take time before the widespread recognition as a member of the family Android Google. This time will be a real test of Android's ability to survive.

One advantage Google has over Apple is their approach to mass marketing channels that Apple can not compete. Today, Google controls not only the largest share in Internet search, but also the most powerful online advertising engine, dubbed AdWords access millions of internet users daily. Unleashing the marketing machine in the smartphone space can go a long way in promoting the Android platform for both consumer and wireless carriers.

Select Android device can be a painstaking task. It is sold under many names by many manufacturers and wireless carriers. Today, Android apps are not nearly as popular as the applications offered for the iPhone, most of them struggle to a decent number of downloads. Implemented using open source technologies, Android applications lack of usability and a sleek user interface found in iPhone apps. On the positive side, Android operating system provides multitasking - running multiple applications simultaneously. You can quickly switch between your favorite Android applications without having to close any of them. The lack of multitasking capability on the iPhone is a traditional sore spot for their customers.

Android as an open source project has its advantages. It can run on many different phone models and work with many wireless carriers. Android application framework itself can easily adapt to any developer to fit a given purpose. In contrast, the iPhone software engine is strictly the property, limiting its operational capability a phone device - the iPhone. The latter is currently only available through AT & T and Apple has sold through its dealer network sales.

Android comes pre-built with a host of applications and services Google has been offering for years, like Google Voice, Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Wave. Google seamlessly integrate most of these services in the Android operating system, so they require the least amount of work and act as their browser counterparts.

Will Android iPhone centric survive in the market or be written off as Google failed experiment? At this point, the former is probably closer to the answer of the latter. Google has a lot of lessons in Android due to its crucial role as a gateway into a multi-billion dollar industry. next few years will be challenging for Android. It will compete with already established brand that has revolutionized the way smartphone operating. Google has all the heavy equipment to fight this battle, but it will take more than that to compete with the Apple iPhone is well designed infrastructure? Whatever the outcome, the battle between Android and the iPhone will certainly transform the smartphone market as we know it.
